Maid of honor About 3 minutes

Hi, everyone. I'm Dana, and I've been Jess's best friend since we were assigned bunk beds at summer camp in 1999. She took the top bunk without asking, and she's been making decisions for both of us ever since.

So when she called me from a parking lot in Austin to say she'd met someone, I knew it was serious. She had never once called me from a parking lot.

Example written from a made-up family's answers.
Wedding toasts

Every toast at the wedding, and the night before

Each one follows the usual order and etiquette for that role, so you know who to thank and when to raise your glass.

Wedding vows

Vows in your own words

Tell us how you met, what you love about them and what you want to promise, and we'll help you shape vows you can say out loud without your voice giving out halfway through.

Officiating a friend's wedding?

We'll write the whole ceremony script from your answers, from the welcome to the pronouncement, with cues for who does what.

A 60th birthday, a 50th anniversary or a coworker's last day. The same questions-and-stories approach works for these too.

Eulogies and obituaries

If you've lost someone and need the words

Writing a eulogy while you're grieving is hard, and there's rarely much time. Tell us about them in your own words - notes and half-sentences are fine - and we'll shape them into something you can stand up and read.

We can also help with the obituary for the newspaper or the funeral home's website, using the same answers about their life, their family and the service. Take as long as you need over the questions. Nothing is sent until you press the button.

Questions

Before you start

Anything else? Email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

Will it sound like me?

It's written from your answers, using your stories, the names you give and the way you describe people. If a line doesn't feel right, use a free rewrite or change the wording yourself before the day.

Who writes the speech?

Speechmade uses AI (Claude, made by Anthropic) guided by your answers and by how toasts, vows and eulogies are usually done in the US. Nothing is invented about the people involved - it only uses what you tell us.

What happens to what I type?

Your answers are sent to Anthropic to write the speech and are kept for 30 days so your rewrites work, then deleted. They're never used to train AI models or shared with anyone else. The privacy policy has the full detail.

How long does it take?

Most people spend 10 to 15 minutes on the questions. The speech itself is ready in under a minute.

Can I change it afterwards?

Yes. You get two free rewrites - for example "make it shorter" or "add a story about the dog" - and it is yours to edit however you like.
